Rock ’n’ roll and sunglasses have always gone hand in hand. From oversized aviators worn backstage in the 70s to dark lenses hiding late nights and bright lights, eyewear has long been part of music culture’s visual identity. Dirty Rocker was built around that connection, a Hastings-born independent eyewear brand inspired by rock ’n’ roll, fashion, and the icons who never dressed quietly.
Every Dirty Rocker frame starts with a moodboard. Music, vintage photography, stage style, archival eyewear, vinyl artwork, backstage imagery, and decades of rock history all shape the direction of a collection before a single design is drawn. The result is eyewear designed to feel timeless, and expressive.
From Mick Jagger and David Bowie to Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, and Elton John, the artists who shaped entire eras through fashion and performance continue to influence the Dirty Rocker world.
This is the story behind Dirty Rocker.
THE JAGGER
Named after Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, The Jagger takes cues from the bold silhouettes and effortless swagger of 70s rock culture.
Built around a vintage-inspired black Wayfarer frame with black polarised lenses and a high-gloss finish, the silhouette is designed to feel sharp, confident, and slightly rebellious. It’s the kind of frame that works just as naturally backstage as it does walking through a city at night.
Classic rock ’n’ roll energy sits at the centre of this design, understated enough for everyday wear, but bold enough to make an impact.
THE BOWIE
The Bowie channels the era of alter egos, theatrical style, and fearless self-expression that made David Bowie one of music’s most influential style icons.
Crafted from premium tortoiseshell acetate with grey-tinted lenses, the frame draws inspiration from Bowie’s 70s stage personas, when sunglasses became part of the performance itself. Oversized and deliberate, the silhouette is designed to frame the entire face and command attention.
The Bowie Vol. 2 pushes the concept further with yellow tortoiseshell acetate and green-tinted lenses, a louder, more electric interpretation inspired by Bowie’s instinct for reinvention and his ability to constantly evolve both musically and visually.
THE TAYLOR
Named after Queen drummer Roger Taylor, The Taylor draws inspiration from stripped-back late 70s styling and classic aviator shapes often seen throughout rock culture during the era.
The silver metal frame, tortoiseshell arms, and gradient lenses give the silhouette a relaxed but sharp feel, balancing vintage influence with modern wearability. Designed for everyday wear without losing its edge, the frame captures the effortless cool associated with musicians who never needed to try too hard.
Across each version, from purple-grey gradients to warmer brown tones, the collection explores how subtle changes in tint and finish can completely alter the mood of a frame.
THE MERCURY
Named after Freddie Mercury, one of the most iconic frontmen in rock history, The Mercury collection leans into confident 70s-inspired styling with a stage-ready edge.
Built around a gold metal silhouette with subtle aviator influence, the frame is lightweight, timeless, and easy to wear while still carrying the bold energy associated with Queen’s larger-than-life era of performance.
Inspired by Freddie Mercury’s charisma, theatricality, and unmistakable confidence, The Mercury is designed to move seamlessly from daytime into late-night settings without losing character.
Each version shifts the tone slightly, from black lenses to warm tea gradients and champagne tints, while keeping the same timeless structure underneath.
Dirty Rocker was formed somewhere between music and fashion, built on a lifelong obsession with statement pieces, vintage culture, and iconic eyewear.
Every collection blends classic frame shapes with modern attitude, taking inspiration from the musicians, eras, album artwork, stage personas, and aesthetics that continue to influence fashion today.
More than anything, Dirty Rocker is a love letter to rock ’n’ roll.
